Description: This painting reflects the shifting nature of dominance, power, and consequence. At first glance, the lizard appears dominant, holding an ant in its mouth—an image that represents the initial stage of control, where power feels secure and unquestioned. This moment of authority coincides with the first visible crack in the wall, symbolising how even small acts of dominance can initiate unseen fractures within seemingly stable structures.

As the narrative unfolds, the ants emerge collectively, transforming from isolated, overlooked beings into a unified force. The cool blue tones of the ants contrast with the warm vulnerability of the lizard, emphasising the transition from individual strength to collective persistence. What begins as control gradually evolves into exposure, resistance, and inevitability.

The exposed bricks suggest that the outcome of a situation is often far more severe than initially imagined. Once a structure begins to fail, the consequences cannot be contained or reversed. The skeletal marking on the lizard subtly reinforces themes of decay and impermanence, reminding the viewer that dominance is temporary.

Through surrealism, the work questions hierarchy and authority, proposing that unity, endurance, and time ultimately overpower physical strength. The painting serves as a reflection on how underestimated forces reshape outcomes long after the first crack appears.
